Bride Kidnapping and Labour Supply Behaviour of Married Kyrgyz Women

Using data from the 2011 and 2016 Life in Kyrgyzstan surveys, we examine Kyrgyz women's labour supply elasticities at extensive margin. We use Heckman's two-step approach to predict earnings for non-participating women then these predictions estimate participation equation. find that decision is not influenced by their earnings. also show there exists a significant gap employment propensities among ethnic consensual or arranged marriages compared kidnapped-based marriages. This finding suggests practice of bride abduction adversely affects probability might have negative consequences on economic well-being.
